Mediatomb is an opensource UPnP Media Server with a web interface. The software has the ability to stream, for example, media such as images and videos to the Playstation 3. For the most Unix distributions you will find ready packages to download on the website of the developers. Most of them are already included in the repositories. In this case, the software is quickly installed with:
apt-get install mediatomb

FHEM is a free server software that enables home automation tasks, such as, for example, the remote control of heating or the automatical switching of lights. The software is written in Perl and can be obtained via the following link:
www.koeniglich.de/fhem/fhem.html
For the control of the individual components (heating, lighting, radio plugs, etc.) I use the FS20 system from www.elv.de, for example for controlling the heating the FHT80b. As a transmitter serves a FHZ1000PC, which is connected via USB to the SheevaPlug.

In order to view the front end of myHouseBot comfortable for the iPhone, I have ported the most important functions in a corresponding iPhone design. The CSS styles of the iWebKit (http://www.iwebkit.net) were very helpfully.
The following pictures show the result:

On the webside of Martin Michlmayr you can find instructions, how to install Debian Lenny on an SD card or USB stick for the sheevaplug. I choosed the version with the SD card, because I have read about problems if boot from an USB stick and the SD card slot would otherwise have remained unused anyway.
The first step is to format the SD card. In the /dev directory you must first search for the logical name of the SD card. After you plugged the SD Card in the slot enter the command "ls mmc*". Normally you should find "mmcblk0" as the logical device name.
